How to get there?
Spa Hotel Siuntio is located in Western Uusimaa. Follow road 51 from Helsinki. Matkahuolto bus routes from Helsinki stop near spa hotel. Buses depart from the Kamppi bus terminal in Helsinki. The Siuntio railway station is located approximately 4 kilometres from spa hotel. Commuter trains Y and some InterCity trains stop at the station.
How to get to World Dog Show?
For more information about the World Dog Show, visit http://www.worlddogshow2014.fi.
The World Dog Show will take place in Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre (Messukeskus). You can get there by car or by train. The show site is located within walking distance from Pasila railway station. The tramcars 7A and 7B and busses also stop in front of the Centre. Notice that the parking space is limited, so the public transport is a good alternative.
Pets are allowed in all public transportation and pets travel free of charge. On the metro and commuter trains pets can only be transported in designated compartments, which are marked.
How to get to Finland?
You can get to Finland at least by ferry, train, car or plane. A combination of different transport methods may be needed due to Finland's isolated location in Northeast Europe.
By plane
The nearest major airport is Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL), located in Vantaa (a city next to Helsinki). All the major international airlines (including Finnish flag carrier Finnair) fly to Helsinki-Vantaa. From the airport it takes about 20 min by taxi to central Helsinki. There are also buses to the city and they leave regularly. Train connection will be ready early autumn 2014.
For other alternatives you can also consider Tampere-Pirkkala (TMP) and Turku (TKU) airports. Tampere is located about 160 km north of Helsinki (1½–2 hours by train or 2 hours by car). Ryanair, AirBaltic and Norwegian, among others, fly to Tampere. There are also several international routes to Turku, which is located on the west coast (1½–2 hours by train or 2 hours by car).
By Ferry
Helsinki is located by the sea so it is easy to come here by ferry. If you will bring you car this is a very practical way of travelling with dogs. There are regular routes from at least St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Gdansk, Travemünde, Rostock and Stockholm. Different ferry companies are listed under useful links.
If you come from Central Europe, a ferry from Tallinn could be a good choice. The journey takes about 2 hours and ferries leave almost every second hour. Dogs are allowed to stay in the car during the journey.
If you come from or via Sweden, consider the direct ferry connections between Stockholm or Kapellskär and Turku or Naantali. It is cheaper and faster than to go all the way to Helsinki. Trip from Stockholm to Turku takes about 10 hours and from Stockholm to Helsinki about 17 hours. Ferries are well equipped with restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Dogs are not allowed to stay in the car during the journey, and you need a special dog-cabin (reserve well beforehand).
By Train
If you come from East of Finland you can come to Helsinki by train. The trains in Finland are mostly in time and well maintained. Dogs are allowed in special cabins and they need a ticket.
If you arrive in Finland to another town than Helsinki, train is a good choice for travelling in Finland.
Commuter train Y from Helsinki railway station to Inkoo departs almost every hour. Tickets cost about 10 €, and the journey takes about 1 hour.
By car
As the public transport (buses, metro and local trains) is very infrequent outside Helsinki, it might be good idea to rent a car. If you are planning to stay near Helsinki, you don’t need a car.
Restrictions and regulations
When bringing your dog to Finland you have to follow the Finnish Food and Safety Authority’s rules. You can find the rules at http://www.evira.fi/portal/en/animals/import_and_export/
The FCI World Dog Show complies with the vaccination regulations approved by the board of the Finnish Kennel Club.
An identification marker (either Lifechip (Indexel) or Datamars microchip or tattoo) is compulsory in all official and unofficial Finnish Kennel Club dog shows as well are vaccinations.
For more information about the classes at World Dog Show and rules, go to http://www.worlddogshow2014.fi/for-exhibitors/rules-and-regulations
According to Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Decree 1070/2000, dogs with docked tails or cropped ears may participate in the FCI World Dog Show in Finland but not any other show.
